Orange Community Action Association goal is to promote the improvement of the quality of life for our older population.  To ensure continuity of care, while allowing our older population to remain in their own homes, thus maintaining independence, dignity, respect and prevention of institutionalization.

Senior Support Services, A Congregate Meals Program
This program is open to anyone 60 years of age or older.  In addition to lunch, participants share social and recreational activities and receive additional benefits such as shopping assistance, nutrition education, health and welfare counseling and information and referral services.

The Transportation Unit provides limited route service to and from the luncheon sites.  In addition, non-emergency medical transportation is provided to persons sixty (60) years of age and older who reside within the city limits.  To schedule, call 24 hours in advance, 886-2186 or 886-8348.

Good Fellowship
Having some place to go to meet and greet old friends or to meet new ones is always fun.  Whether you enjoy watching television, playing a game of cards, engaging in a handicraft or just visiting with your friends, your community Senior Center can provide the friendly atmosphere of fellowship that you are looking for.

Get Involved
Having fun and getting involved is what it's all about!  At our Senior Centers, there are many volunteer jobs to be enjoyed.  Being active helps others as you help yourself.

Good Food
Proper nutrition is extremely important to staying healthy and active.  As we get older, our nutritional needs and intake change.  One of our prime missions is to provide a nutritious hot lunch each weekday at noon.

Each meal is specially planned to insure proper nutrition and is then prepared with quality ingredients and love. Our cooks are very conscious of the special dietary restraints imposed by specific health problems, therefore:

w  No salt is added during food preparation
w  Only fresh, frozen or canned fruits packed in natural unsweetened juices are used
w  2% lowfat milk is used to cut down on cholesterol
w  Lean meats are selected to limit fat intake
w  Low cholesterol oil is used
w  We limit sugar use and substitute artificial sweeteners when possible.

Individuals are asked to contribute based on their ability to pay.  However, no eligible person will be denied a meal based on their refusal or inability to pay.
